Dr. Nicole Anest is a graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Medicine.
She completed her residency at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
She is certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Anest has been a
Staff Pathologist since 2004.
Dr. Fred Busse is a graduate of Indiana University School
of Medicine. He completed his residency at South Bend Medical Foundation, and he is board certified
in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Busse has been a
Staff Pathologist since 2001.
Dr. Alfonso Cardenas is a graduate of National University in
Bogota, Colombia. He completed his residency at University of Maryland Hospital. He is
certified by the American Board of Pathology and has been a Staff Pathologist since 1984. He is
the Co-Director of Microbiology.
Dr. Blair Chrenka received his Doctor of Medicine degree from
Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a resident in Pathology at Children’s
Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Presbyterian Hospital, all in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Chrenka is
board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with Subspeciality Certification in Pediatric Pathology,
and he joined the Foundation in 2002.
Dr. Frank Deogracias is a graduate of the Indiana University
School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Michigan. He is certified by the American
Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He has been a Staff Pathologist since 1979 and is
the Co-Director of Hematology and the Director of the Molecular Pathology Laboratory.
Dr. James Dyer is a graduate of the University of Illinois College
of Medicine. He completed his residency at Michael Reese Hospital. He is board certified in Anatomic
and Clinical Pathology. He joined the Foundation in 1999 as the Director for the St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center, Plymouth Campus and Starke Memorial Hospital laboratories.
Dr. Amobi Ezenekwe is a graduate of the University of Nigeria
College of Medicine, Enugu-State, Nigeria. He completed his Pathology Residency at St. Louis University
School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri and his fellowship in Hematopathology also at Saint Louis
University School of Medicine in Saint Louis Missouri. He is certified in Anatomic and Clinical
Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Ezenekwe has been a Staff Pathologist since 2005.
Dr. Derrick Forchetti is an alumnus of Indiana University Medical
School in Indianapolis, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1997. He has completed a
residency in Pathology at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. Dr. Forchetti joined the Foundation in 2002.
Dr. Luis Galup is a graduate of Universidad Nacional Mayor de San
Marcos in Lima, Peru. He holds board certifications in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Chemical
Pathology, and Radioisotopic Pathology. He joined the South Bend Medical Foundation in 1967, became
Medical Director in 1976 and was named President in 1981. He also serves as the Director of Quality
Assurance and the Co-Director of Nuclear Medicine.
Dr. Nita Gerig is a graduate of Indiana University School of
Medicine. She completed her residency at Indiana University Medical Center, and is board certified
in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. She has been a Staff Pathologist since 1996 and is the Co-Director
of Nuclear Chemistry and the Co-Director of Flow Cytometry.
Dr. Rick Hoover is a graduate of the Indiana University School of
Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and
Forensic Pathology. He has been a Staff Pathologist since 1984 and serves as Director of Toxicology.
Dr. Kristen Jacobs is a graduate of the University of Iowa. She
completed a residency at South Bend Medical Foundation and has been a Staff Pathologist since 1988.
She is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology and
Cytopathology. She is the Director of Cytology and Director of Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. David Jentz is a graduate of the Indiana University School of
Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He
completed his residency at South Bend Medical Foundation and has been a Staff Pathologist since 1983.
He is the Director of Histology/Surgical Records and the Director of Electron Microscopy.
Dr. William Kaliney is a graduate of the Northwestern University
Medical School. He completed a residency at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals. He is
certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and has been a Staff
Pathologist since 1979. He is the Director of Immunology and the Co-Director of Flow Cytometry.
Dr. Kurtis Kim is a graduate of the Seoul National University
College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea. He completed a residency at Case Western Reserve
University Hospitals and is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical
Pathology and Cytopathology. He has been a Staff Pathologist since 1992 and is the Co-Director of
Microbiology.
Dr. John Landgraf is a graduate of the University of Michigan
Medical School. He completed his residency at South Bend Medical Foundation, and he is board certified
in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Landgraf became a Staff
Pathologist in 2001.
Dr. Odeta Lapkus is a graduate of the University of Vilnius,
Lithuania. She completed her Pathology Residency at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana and
her fellowship in Cytopathology at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is
cerfified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Lapkus has been
a Staff Pathologist since 2005.
Dr. Joseph Prahlow is a graduate of the Indiana School of
Medicine. He completed his residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He is certified by the
American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Forensic Pathology. He joined
the Foundation in 1999 and is the Director of the Indiana School of Medicine-South Bend Medical Center
at the University of Notre Dame. He is also the Director of Autopsy Pathology.
Dr. Bobbie Collett Sutton obtained her Ph.D. and M.D. doctoral
degrees from Indiana University in Indianapolis. From 1990-95, she undertook postdoctoral training
at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Dr. Sutton joined the South Bend Medical Foundation's Pathology Staff in July of 2000.
Dr. Robert Tomec is a graduate of the School of Medicine, Case
Western Reserve University. He is the Director of Chemistry and the Co-Director of Hematology. He has
been Executive Vice President of the South Bend Medical Foundation since 1992 and a Staff Pathologist
since 1980.
